making memories in the heights
It was a fun couple of weeks painting for The Nook Gift Shop in Peoria Heights. Before starting we discussed bringing in pieces of the history of the building itself as well as some fun elements celebrating the atmosphere of the Heights. The first white shop is an ode to A. Matarelli Grocery that once resided in this building. The cat in the window was actually a request from a pedestrian while I was working and I think he is the perfect addition! The hardware store represents the Nena family business and is modeled after the family’s first store. The Peoria Nook is also the only one not located within a hardware store. The Apache Junction street sign represents another previous store that was once in this same building. Here is to looking to the future while celebrating the past!
ccp 125th gala
The Country Club of Peoria celebrated their 125th anniversary and I was honored to have been a part of this amazing evening, under the vision of Beth Maxwell Events. The evening featured hand drawn graphics from a collection of photos of the club in its early years. These graphics were combined in a toile pattern for custom fabrics, signage, and stationery. Beth Maxwell wanted the evening to highlight the history of the club as well as Grandview Drive, where the club sits. To help bring this to life, iconic Grandview Drive houses were drawn by hand on the windows of the Lakeside room as the backdrop of the dinner hour.
conscious kids rhyming book series
A series of poems featuring watercolor illustrations and hand drawn cover artwork. Author, Danielle Atherton-Rutledge, has written poems to open your child’s mind and heart, help create a little magic, fun memories, and morals at bed time.
